Oklahoma Hall of Fame

Christie Owen is at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame

— Gaylord Pickens Museum for her solo exhibition “Surroundings.” She has been an artist all her life and graphic designer for over 20 years. From a distance, her art exudes a “less is more” or minimalist aesthetic but with closer investigation, the composition, surface textures and layers sensitize the viewer to escape on a visual journey. Inspired by our everyday environments, the materials and compositions in her artwork perpetually change in relation to various time and life experiences. Her work captures a journey of experimentation while seeking to convey balance and unity through forms and colors derived by industry and nature. Christie earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Design from State University of New York College at Buffalo.
