Sugar Mountain – The concept for this series was born when my brother was having a life threatening surgery. I was so nervous and scared and needed to calm down.
“What transpired was the product of self-therapy. Owen grabbed a palette knife and applied a dab of acrylic paint and modeling paste to the canvas, and then another and another, building a mesmerizing grid of varying colors.” — Oklahoma Gazette, George Lang Nov. 2016
It was therapeutic. My brother made it through the surgery and I discovered a new way to use a medium. The name came from a Neil Young song and the frosting like texture of the paint.
